Alyssa + Jason's Engagement Photos

Being a Kalamazoo photographer means I’m right in the middle of Detroit and Chicago and I’m always willing to do a little traveling to photograph some of these great people and places between! Here’s a few from Alyssa and Jason’s engagement session in downtown Detroit. We started at The Skip and ended at Belle Isle. Can’t wait to photograph their wedding coming up in May of 2022!

Allison + Paul's River Edge Bed and Breakfast Wedding

So many blogs to catch up on! I had a very busy year with weddings in 2020. 35 weddings total and I just finished up my last edit for the year! Woohoo!

These images are from an incredibly hot day in mid July in Lowell, MI at the River Edge Bed and Breakfast. This wedding venue is amazing! There’s an incredible marsh and field with a beautiful river running through the background of the ceremony. This is the perfect kind of scene for me as a wedding photographer and landscape photographer. Check out a few of my favorites from Ally and Paul’s wedding day…

Iana + Terry's Engagement Session

Can’t decide between WMU campus and Van Buren State Park? Let’s do both! We started on the campus of Western Michigan University at Heritage Hall with a few fun shots in front of the building, we even had time for a quick aerial shot. We then crossed the street to Vandercook Hall (one of my favorite buildings on campus) for some really cool images of the ivy covered brick walls. We also made a quick stop at the fountains behind Miller Auditorium before heading out to Van Buren State Park for sunset on the dunes over Lake Michigan. Also, I may or may not have led them down the wrong path and up a large, unnecessary dune, in the dark, on the way out…as we were eaten alive by mosquitos… Check out the awesome stuff we got!

Elaina + Jonathan's Fetzer Center Wedding

Congratulations Elaina + Jon! These two love birds were married on June 14, 2019. We started by getting ready at the WMU Fetzer Center, which has a pretty cool suite for the bridesmaids. After the finishing touches, Elaina and Jon decided to do a first look out on the beautiful back deck of the Fetzer Center. We then headed over to the Donald E. Overlander bandshell in Portage, MI for their ceremony. After taking bridal party photos around the park and more on WMU campus, we headed back over to the Fetzer Center for the reception. Amy + Steven's Bissell Tree House Wedding

Amy + Steven were married last weekend on April 27th, 2019. The day started with Amy and her bridesmaids getting ready at the City Flats Hotel in Grand Rapids. Steven and the groomsmen were getting ready just 5 minutes away at his apartment. Their wedding ceremony was held at St. Mary’s church in Grand Rapids. Following the ceremony, we took a party bus limo around downtown Grand Rapids, making stops at the Blue Bridge for a few photos (one with the drone), the Grand Rapids Art Museum, and the Love sculpture for an epic wedding party photo that looks like a magazine cover (someone publish it!). We jumped back on the party bus to head over to the Bissell Tree House for the reception. Check out a few highlights from their special day!

Riley + Jessica's Southwest Michigan Engagement Photos

Riley and Jessica met me at the Portage Creek Bicentennial Park last weekend for their engagement session. We had a beautiful spring day with lots of sunshine! It’s funny, I always get the same spiel from couples right before we begin the shoot. Usually something like, “We’re awkward and not very good at having our picture taken” (most people are not very comfortable in front of the camera). So my job is equally divided between getting couples to loosen up, have fun, making them laugh, and taking their photos at the same time. Well, I clearly didn’t have any trouble getting real laughs and smiles out of these two, scroll down to see a few highlights from the session!

Julie + Cole's South Haven Engagement Photos

Julie and Cole couldn’t decide on how they wanted their engagement photos to look, so we scheduled two sessions! Their first session was in the Fall on the Kalamazoo Mall, just a bit different than this second session out on the frozen pier of South Haven. Julie and Cole’s wedding is in September with the ceremony at Trinity Lutheran Church in Kalamazoo and the reception at Cityscape on the Kalamazoo Mall. Here’s some of the results from our cold day in February on Lake Michigan…

Melissa + Evan's Engagement Photos at Milham Park in Southwest Michigan

Evan contacted me back in July to photograph his surprise proposal to Melissa and what an incredible experience that was! So when they asked me to be their wedding photographer, I jumped at the opportunity. I’m so lucky and excited to get to see this entire experience through with them, from proposal, to engagement session, to wedding! These two are getting married in March of 2020 at The Kalamazoo Country Club. Check out a few highlights from their engagement session at Milham Park this fall.
