Julie + Nate's Detroit Wedding

Can you think of a better way to kick off the New Year? Julie and Nate were married on January 4th, 2020 at the beautiful St. Aloysius Parish in Detroit, Michigan. The reception was held at the Detroit Athletic Club. After getting ready, we were able to find some amazing places (it wasn’t hard) for portraits and a first look at the DAC. We then jumped onto a shuttle for wedding party photos on the steps of the Detroit Institute of Arts and some stunning images of Julie and Nate in front of the iconic Fox Theatre downtown Detroit. Be sure to check out the amazing architecture in the images from the wedding ceremony at St. Aloysius.

The reception continued back at the Detroit Athletic Club with cocktail hour and the traditional Chaldean Zaffa. The Zaffa was incredible! Massive drums lead the family and wedding party to the reception hall where dancing and lifting of the bride and groom took place. Check out a few highlights from the day.

Allison + Paul's River Edge Bed and Breakfast Wedding

So many blogs to catch up on! I had a very busy year with weddings in 2020. 35 weddings total and I just finished up my last edit for the year! Woohoo!

These images are from an incredibly hot day in mid July in Lowell, MI at the River Edge Bed and Breakfast. This wedding venue is amazing! There’s an incredible marsh and field with a beautiful river running through the background of the ceremony. This is the perfect kind of scene for me as a wedding photographer and landscape photographer. Check out a few of my favorites from Ally and Paul’s wedding day…

Julie + Cole Downtown Kalamazoo

What a fun couple! Over the last year of talking with and working with Julie & Cole, I grew more and more excited as this date approached. They did a great job planning their wedding ceremony and reception, we had great weather, and an excellent wedding party! Their wedding ceremony was held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Kalamazoo and the reception was held at CityScape on the Kalamazoo Mall. Check out some of the highlights from their day!

Annie + John's Kalamazoo Wedding at The Girl Scouts Heart of Michigan

Annie & John were married at the Girl Scouts Heart of Michigan building in Kalamazoo on June 22, 2019 and it was a beautiful day! After getting ready we took a few photos in the staircase which has a really cool modern industrial look. Then we headed outside for the first look and were met with two fawns playing in front of the ceremony site! The ceremony gave us an amazing blue sky with a light breeze and the reception inside was a playground of shadows and light filtered in through the trees just outside the windows behind the head table. Elaina + Jonathan's Fetzer Center Wedding

Congratulations Elaina + Jon! These two love birds were married on June 14, 2019. We started by getting ready at the WMU Fetzer Center, which has a pretty cool suite for the bridesmaids. After the finishing touches, Elaina and Jon decided to do a first look out on the beautiful back deck of the Fetzer Center. We then headed over to the Donald E. Overlander bandshell in Portage, MI for their ceremony. After taking bridal party photos around the park and more on WMU campus, we headed back over to the Fetzer Center for the reception. Ashley + Matt's Gable Hill Wedding

I knew from the beginning of their engagement session last year that these two were going to be an amazing couple to work with. Their engagement session and wedding turned out beautifully, not just because of the setting, but because of the energy between these two radiant people. They didn’t forget that this day was about celebrating joy and love, they remembered to laugh and have fun, they were just so relaxed and went with the flow of the day. I’ve never had a blog post with this many images, because I just couldn’t choose. Gable Hill in Marcellus, MI is a beautiful venue and I hope to go back there soon! Melissa + Evan in Grand Rapids

Melissa and Evan met up with me in Grand Rapids for their engagement photos. We started out in Rosa Parks Circle, made our way to the Grand Rapids Art Museum, The Love sculpture, the Grand River, and finally The Blue Bridge. Katharine & Collin were married on May 25th, 2019 at the Plainfield Christian Church in Belmont, MI. After the ceremony, we headed over to the Revel Center in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Tricia + Josh's WMU Kanley Chapel Wedding

Tricia & Josh were married last weekend on May 18th at Western Michigan University. The ceremony was held at Kanley Chapel with their reception at the Gilmore Theatre Complex. After getting ready we staged an amazing first look at the fountains behind Miller Auditorium. We even got to fly the drone for a couple shots outside of the Gilmore Theatre. Amy + Steven's Bissell Tree House Wedding

Amy + Steven were married last weekend on April 27th, 2019. The day started with Amy and her bridesmaids getting ready at the City Flats Hotel in Grand Rapids. Steven and the groomsmen were getting ready just 5 minutes away at his apartment. Their wedding ceremony was held at St. Mary’s church in Grand Rapids. Following the ceremony, we took a party bus limo around downtown Grand Rapids, making stops at the Blue Bridge for a few photos (one with the drone), the Grand Rapids Art Museum, and the Love sculpture for an epic wedding party photo that looks like a magazine cover (someone publish it!). We jumped back on the party bus to head over to the Bissell Tree House for the reception. Check out a few highlights from their special day!
