Tricia & Josh were married last weekend on May 18th at Western Michigan University. The ceremony was held at Kanley Chapel with their reception at the Gilmore Theatre Complex. After getting ready we staged an amazing first look at the fountains behind Miller Auditorium. We even got to fly the drone for a couple shots outside of the Gilmore Theatre. Check out a few highlights from their wedding day!
Thomas & Bronwyn closed out 2018 in style! They were married on December 29th downtown Kalamazoo at Loft 310. I knew they were going to be a blast to work with when I got a glimpse of their family and crew during their rehearsal dinner which was held at the Kalamazoo Air Zoo, complete with square dancing to wrap up the evening! After getting ready at the Radisson Hotel the next morning, we staged Thomas and Bronwyn on the Skydeck for a first look. Following a wonderful ceremony, their guests certainly didn’t disappoint on the dance floor! At the end of the evening, a flurry of snow added the perfect touch to one more rooftop photo opportunity.
Sara & Kevin met up with me for their engagement photos at Milham Park in Kalamazoo after the first good snow fall in Southwest Michigan a couple weeks ago. It gets a little cold but I love winter sessions like this! These two are getting married next October. Here’s a few highlights from the session. Congrats you two!
I met up with Julie & Cole on the last weekend in October for their Fall engagement session on Kalamazoo Mall Dr. We spent some time in the beautiful brick road ally next to Gazelle Sports and the ally behind Something’s Brewing coffee shop. We then explored a bit around the Kalamazoo Valley Museum and ended up under an amazing canopy of string lights behind Monaco Bay! These two will be getting married next September at the Trinity Lutheran Church downtown Kalamazoo, then heading over to Cityscape for their reception. Anthony and Evelyn are getting married on October 4, 2019 at Sundance Studios in Southwest Michigan near Benton Harbor. We instantly hit it off after realizing we were all obsessed with Subaru Crosstreks, just skim through the images to see Anthony’s sweet set up! I got to spend the day with these two at the Kalamazoo Nature Center for an early morning engagement session and then another evening sunset session. We got two totally different looks due to the weather and location. The morning session in the tall grass prairie started out overcast and rainy (being from Washington, the rain didn’t scare them a bit). The evening session in the arboretum turned out sunny and clear giving us plenty of opportunity to play around with the sun. Skim through the images to see if you can figure out in which photo Anthony put his cold hand on Evelyn’s back!
James and Justine came home to Michigan to be married with their friends and family present in early October. I’m sure it was hard to give up the scenery of Washington but they found a beautiful venue in Southwest Michigan at the Lawton Community Center. There were plenty of photo ops throughout the grounds, including a pretty sweet wine cellar/museum in the basement, and they gave me plenty of time to come up with some good material! Congrats to you both and I hope our paths cross again someday!

Karen & James were married yesterday in Southwest Michigan at the Blodgett Wedding Barn in Schoolcraft! This was my first time at this venue and I’m obsessed! It’s a beautifully renovated barn with two spacious areas for the bride and groom to get ready, amazing farm tables for the reception, and plenty of dance floor area. The ceremony site just outside the barn has a beautiful backdrop of field and trees, the property also has rows of trees and plenty of great scenes for portraits. We got to do a cool “hidden first look” with both bride and groom in the photo without them seeing each other. I’m so happy for these two, congrats Karen and James!

Darian and Americo met me on the Kalamazoo Mall for their engagement session, we walked around town and headed over to a few abandoned buildings to finish up the shoot. These two are getting married next August in Holland, MI. The ceremony will be held at a really cool little place called Morningside Park, which looks awesome for photos. We’ll then head over to Baker Lofts in Holland for the wedding reception. So Glad you two asked me to be your wedding photographer!
Just a few more from Karen and James. We did two engagement shoots, so this one was a short session. We really wanted to catch the last of the apple blossoms so we ran out to VerHage Fruit Farms in Kalamazoo. They're getting married in October at the Blodgett Wedding Barn in Schoolcraft, Michigan.
Just a review of some weddings and moments from 2017. Last wedding season was a blast, I've learned a lot and I'm excited for 2018. I absolutely love capturing these moments and creating small pieces of art work for these couples to have for a lifetime. I really enjoy showing couples a preview right off the camera so I can see their reactions. Bringing people joy through my work is always my top priority.
