Katie and Patrick really nailed it when they came out with me to the campus of MSU! These two will be getting married on July 25th with the ceremony at St Catherine of Siena in Portrage, MI with the reception following at the Kalamazoo Country Club. What do you get when you mix two fun people, Lake Michigan, the beach, a hotdog stand, a party bus, amazing friends as your wedding party, and an awesome venue? A stellar wedding like this! I’ve been seriously slacking on the blog because of my workload but I’m squeezing these two in so you can get a sneak peek at this awesome wedding.
Can’t decide between WMU campus and Van Buren State Park? Let’s do both! We started on the campus of Western Michigan University at Heritage Hall with a few fun shots in front of the building, we even had time for a quick aerial shot. We then crossed the street to Vandercook Hall (one of my favorite buildings on campus) for some really cool images of the ivy covered brick walls. We also made a quick stop at the fountains behind Miller Auditorium before heading out to Van Buren State Park for sunset on the dunes over Lake Michigan. Also, I may or may not have led them down the wrong path and up a large, unnecessary dune, in the dark, on the way out…as we were eaten alive by mosquitos… Check out the awesome stuff we got!
It was a hot and sunny day at Bell’s in the Beer Garden last weekend but this crowd gathered together for the wedding ceremony of Lindsey and Bill. These two certainly made an impact in and around the Kalamazoo area and they will be missed by many as they move out west to start their new lives together. Lindsey, being an art teacher, made each clay vase for the reception and they were filled with a beautiful assortment of flowers from Viavi Flower Farm. Annie & John were married at the Girl Scouts Heart of Michigan building in Kalamazoo on June 22, 2019 and it was a beautiful day! After getting ready we took a few photos in the staircase which has a really cool modern industrial look. Then we headed outside for the first look and were met with two fawns playing in front of the ceremony site! The ceremony gave us an amazing blue sky with a light breeze and the reception inside was a playground of shadows and light filtered in through the trees just outside the windows behind the head table. Congratulations Elaina + Jon! These two love birds were married on June 14, 2019. We started by getting ready at the WMU Fetzer Center, which has a pretty cool suite for the bridesmaids. After the finishing touches, Elaina and Jon decided to do a first look out on the beautiful back deck of the Fetzer Center. We then headed over to the Donald E. Overlander bandshell in Portage, MI for their ceremony. After taking bridal party photos around the park and more on WMU campus, we headed back over to the Fetzer Center for the reception. I knew from the beginning of their engagement session last year that these two were going to be an amazing couple to work with. Their engagement session and wedding turned out beautifully, not just because of the setting, but because of the energy between these two radiant people. They didn’t forget that this day was about celebrating joy and love, they remembered to laugh and have fun, they were just so relaxed and went with the flow of the day. I’ve never had a blog post with this many images, because I just couldn’t choose. Gable Hill in Marcellus, MI is a beautiful venue and I hope to go back there soon! Lindsey & Tim! Wow, I love your natural interaction with each other and how these photos turned out! Tim grew up down the street from Rawson’s King Mill County Park, so it just seemed like a great idea to shoot there, and I’m sure glad we did! Melissa and Evan met up with me in Grand Rapids for their engagement photos. We started out in Rosa Parks Circle, made our way to the Grand Rapids Art Museum, The Love sculpture, the Grand River, and finally The Blue Bridge.
